THE Friends of the Hoy Kirk have invited well-known Orkney folk group The Wrigley Sisters to provide a weekend of music at the Hoy Kirk, Hoy, on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24.
The event, part of the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership Scheme, is expected to attract music lovers of all ages and abilities. It will kick off with a concert by The Wrigley Sisters at the Hoy Kirk at 8pm on the Friday. Tickets cost £5 and will be available at the door.
On Saturday, The Wrigley Sisters will be providing music workshops at
the Hoy Kirk from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm. The event is free but donations
to the Friends of the Hoy Kirk are welcome.
On Saturday night at 8pm everyone is invited to an informal, free,
music session at the Hoy Kirk. The more the merrier - everyone is
encouraged to bring along a musical instrument.
A warm welcome is extended to people from throughout the island and
further afield. Anyone from the mainland interested in attending the
Friday concert can travel as a foot passenger on the 6.30pm ferry from
Stromness, with the return crossing leaving Moaness at 10pm.
To come a cross on Saturday, phone Orkney Ferries at 01856 872044 for
car ferry sailings from Houton to Lyness, Hoy. For those wishing to
stay overnight, the Hoy Centre has a special offer on where if you book
one night you can get a second night's accommodation free.
